  • HOW TO TELL A STORY: Five steps to write a story.



  • 1- INTRODUCTION:
  • The beginning of the story, possibly explaining its origin or giving a general idea of what is to follow
  • 2- BACKGROUND:
  • A description of the time and place where the story is set or the main character/s.
  • 3- PROBLEM:
  • A complication or dilemma that affects the main character or characters.
  • 4- RESOLUTION:
  • The solution of the dilemma or complication.
  • 5- COMMENT: The moral of the story or an explanation of its implications.

Some narrative strategies you may use to be creative when writing a mystery story:

  • Start in the middle of the story,
  • Refer to previous events.
  • Set the story in a time and place background.
  • Give details about the climax of the story.
  • Conclude with the solution of the problem and give an explanation.
